The entity known as TRIBUNAL SUPREMO ELECTORAL (TSE) in the country has been fighting against them for constantly breaking the law, while the most powerful contenders are not following their regulations.
The party of the current government, Partido Patriota was already suspended for holding a public meeting using the party's name, nevertheless on February the 5th, the suspension was removed.
Mirador Electoral, a collective social group, claims that there has been spent more than Q.6 million quetzales, illegally, among the parties and the actual government, using different strategies.

The TSE just announced that if the political parties are not willing to obey their commandments, the amount of money spent during this time, might be discounted of the budgetary ceiling that elector was established for expenses of campaign. This, according to Prensa Libre .
There has been several pointings to different mayors and civil servants of using public funds for giving away presents and other forms of persuasion techniques. El Periódico published about this, talking about the specific case of Mixco's and Palin's mayors.
As an attempt to evidence these breaches, the TSE just launched an app that permits denouncing anticipated campaign. This app is called "Ojo Guate" and it is available for mobile phones, and has as aim, that the citicens help to control it, and help to strengthen the electoral process.
